FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Ombre Powder Brows

What are ombre powder brows?

Ombré powder brows are a soft, shaded brow tattoo that mimics the look of a filled-in brow with makeup—lighter at the front, gradually deepening through the arch and tail. Instead of hair strokes, tiny pixels are layered into the skin to create a smooth, airy, powdered effect. They’re ideal for clients who want definition, symmetry, and a polished look without harsh lines.

How are ombre powder brows different than microblading?

Microblading uses a manual blade to create hair-like strokes and is best for very specific skin types (usually normal to dry, minimal texture).

Ombré powder brows are done with a machine and tiny needles that gently implant pigment as a soft shade.

Benefits:

• More universal for different skin types, including oily or combination

• Longer-lasting and less traumatic to the skin

• Heals softer and ages more gracefully than microblading strokes

Who is a good candidate for ombre powder brows?

Ombré powder brows are great for:

• Clients with sparse, uneven, or over-plucked brows

• Clients who fill in their brows daily and want to save time

• Clients with oily or combination skin

• Clients with dry skin

• Clients who want more symmetry to their brows and face overall

• Mature skin (it’s gentler and more forgiving)

You may not be a candidate if you are:

• Pregnant or breastfeeding

• Under 18

• Currently on Accutane or recently off (within 6–12 months; check your provider’s guidance)

• Have uncontrolled diabetes, certain autoimmune conditions, are prone to keloids, or are undergoing chemotherapy (medical clearance needed)

If you’re unsure, a consultation is recommended.

How long do powder brows last?

On average, 1.5–3 years depending on:

• Skin type (oily skin may fade faster)

• Lifestyle (sun exposure, skincare with acids/retinol)

• Aftercare and maintenance

Brows will gradually soften over time. Color boosts are usually recommended every 12–24 months to keep them fresh.

Does it hurt?

Most clients describe the pain as mild to moderate. I describe the feeling similar to a cat scratch, as the needle gently glides on the top of the skin.

• A topical numbing cream is used during the procedure.

• Sensitivity can depend on your cycle, pain tolerance, and whether you’ve had caffeine or alcohol.

You’ll feel some pressure or scratching, but it should be very tolerable.

How long does the appointment take?

For new ombré powder brows, plan for about 2.5–3.5 hours, which includes:

• Consultation + mapping your shape

• Color selection customized to your skin tone + natural hair

• The tattooing process itself

• Aftercare instructions

Your perfecting touch-up is shorter, usually 60–90 minutes.

What is the healing process like?

Healing typically takes 10–14 days on the surface and up to 4–6 weeks for the color to fully settle.

Common stages:

• Days 1–2: Brows look darker and more defined. This is normal.

• Days 3–5: Brows may feel dry/tight; light flaking or scabbing can start.

• Days 5–10: Flaking/scabbing; color may look patchy or very light.

• Weeks 3–6: Color resurfaces and softens into its final healed shade.

The “ugly phase” is temporary. Final results are evaluated at your touch-up. Touch up appointments can be booked ahead of time. Touch ups ensure desired results, as all skin is different and retains pigment differently.

Will my brows look too dark or too bold?

They will look darker and sharper in the first few days—about 30–50% darker than the final healed result.

As they heal, they soften into a natural, powdery finish. Your shape and color are customized to your face and preferences, so you’re never stuck with a harsh block brow.

Do I need a touch up?

Yes. A perfecting touch-up is highly recommended around 6–10 weeks after your initial session.

At this visit we:

• Fill any lighter spots

• Soften/adjust color if needed

• Refine shape and density

Skipping your touch-up may result in brows that fade faster or look incomplete.

Can you work over my old brow tattoo/microblading?

Possibly. It depends on how dark, saturated, or uneven the previous work is.

• If your old tattoo is too dark, cool, or blocky, saline lightening/removal session(s) may be recommended first.

• If it’s light and faded, we may be able to color-correct and reshape.

Photos in natural light (without filters) of brows with previous work are required before booking for saline lightening or correctional brows. Alternatively, you can book a consultation so we can evaluate in person.

How do you choose the right shape and color?

Every set is mapped and mixed specifically for your:

• Bone structure

• Natural hair growth

• Face shape & features

• Skin tone & undertones

• Style preference (soft/natural vs more defined) Bring pictures of your inspiration and brow goals if you have a specific style in mind.

Nothing is freehanded blindly—we design together, and you’ll approve the shape before we start.

Can you guarantee your work?

While I stand behind the quality of my work and technique, permanent make up results can vary from person to person due to factors such as skin type, lifestyle, aftercare, and how the body heals. Because of this, specific results cannot be guaranteed. Touch-ups and healing are an essential part of the process and are used to perfect color, shape and density once the brows are fully healed.

How should I prepare for my ombre brow appointment?

To ensure best results, please arrive with clean skin and follow all pre-care instructions provided prior to your appointment. What are the aftercare instructions?

Clients are required to follow all aftercare instructions provided below to ensure proper healing and optimal results. Failure to follow aftercare guidelines- including exposure to moisture, make up, sun, sweating, or picking at the area- may results in poor pigment retention, uneven healing, or the need for additional touch-ups.

Days 1–2 (Right After Your Appointment)

Gently blot your brows every 15–30 minutes with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. This helps prevent scabbing.

Keep the area clean and dry. No moisture, no makeup, no ointment yet.

Do not touch, rub, or pick at the area.

Always wash your hands before coming near your brows.

Avoid close contact with pets, especially near your face.

Days 3–7

You may begin applying a very thin layer of the healing ointment (if provided) 1–2 times daily with clean hands or a cotton swab.

Brows may flake or peel—this is normal. Do not pick or peel at them.

Continue to keep the area dry. Use the provided shower visor to avoid water when showering.

Avoid sweating, swimming, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, and heavy workouts.

No makeup on the brow area.

No facial treatments or skincare products containing AHA’s, glycolic/lactic acid, or retinol near the brows.

No gardening, handling soil, or exposing the brows to dirt or dust.

Days 8–14

Your brows may look patchy or lighter—this is part of the normal healing cycle.

Continue avoiding exfoliants, sun exposure, tanning beds, and facial waxing/threading in the brow area.

Once peeling is fully complete, you may return to your regular makeup and skincare routine—just be gentle with the area.

Moisture & Discomfort

Avoid soaking the brows (baths, pools, long showers). Quick face washing is fine—just pat dry with a clean towel.

If dryness or tightness occurs, apply a very light layer of healing ointment, only if advised.

You may take Ibuprofen or Advil if you feel sore or tender—discomfort typically fades within a few hours.

Long-Term Care

Once healed, always apply SPF on your brows to protect your pigment from fading.

Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, or active ingredients (like retinol) directly over the brows even after healing.

A touch-up is recommended in 6–8 weeks to perfect shape, color, and retention.

❗Important Reminders:

No antibiotics or steroid medications for 2 weeks, unless cleared by a doctor.

Healing varies. Your brows will go through stages—darker, lighter, and then settling. This is normal.

If you notice signs of infection (swelling, pus, increased redness, severe pain), contact a medical professional immediately.

What if I don't like my brows?

We take time to design a shape you approve before tattooing. Communication is key.

• Small tweaks can be made at your touch-up (slightly darker, fuller, etc.)

• Major changes (to shape and darkness) may not be possible without lightening first.

• It’s important to share your preferences and questions clearly during mapping.

• If you do not like the decision you made, the touch up appointment can be cancelled and the pigment will fade over time.

• There are no refunds, so please be 100% sure you will benefit from this procedure.

• We take time and will ensure to agree on a shape and style that you desire, we do not move forward with the procedure until your brows are mapped how you want.

Will my brows be perfect right away?

Ombré powder brows are a two-step process. Right after the first session, they’ll be shaped and defined, but:

• Minor patchiness or light spots are normal while healing.

• Final symmetry, density, and color are perfected at your touch-up.

Trust the full process, not just day one.
